The Halloween Heat Is On campaign reminds Coloradans to drive sober

Traffic Safety Pulse News

In partnership with Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies, CDOT’s impaired driving-prevention efforts will ramp up once again with The Heat Is On Halloween Weekend DUI enforcement period from Oct. 29 – Nov. 1. Increased DUI patrols will be on duty statewide over the holiday weekend to help remove impaired drivers from Colorado roads. Last year during the same enforcement, 95 agencies arrested 202 impaired drivers.

The most recent Fall Festivals enforcement from Sept. 10-13 saw 62 participating agencies make 74 arrests. The Thanksgiving Week enforcement will follow from Nov 24-28.

The CDOT Highway Safety Office provides funding to Colorado law enforcement for impaired driving enforcement, education and awareness campaigns. The Heat Is On campaign runs throughout the year, with 16 specific high-visibility impaired driving enforcement periods centered on national holidays and large public events. Enforcement periods can include sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and additional law enforcement on duty dedicated to impaired driving enforcement.
