U.S. DOT pushes swift implementation of first pedestrian safety plan

To address the issue of pedestrian safety, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Administrator Nicole R. Nason and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Deputy Administrator James C. Owens joined forces to release an action plan that includes current and future ways to improve pedestrian safety across numerous U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) agencies. FHWA and NHTSA will lead a swift implementation of initiatives by the end of this year to enhance public education around street safety and help governments improve infrastructure designed to promote safety for pedestrians.
