Safe 2 Sturgis Campaign Promotes Safety for 2017 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Travelers

To raise awareness of motorcycle safety and combat the rising number of motorcycle fatalities in Colorado, CDOT partnered with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Colorado State Patrol, Wyoming Highway Patrol and the Wyoming Department of Transportation for the Safe 2 Sturgis campaign, targeting motorcycle enthusiasts traveling to and from the 77th Annual Sturgis rally.

The Safe 2 Sturgis campaign—which took place from July 29 to Aug. 19—included safety messages for both motorcyclists and automobile drivers alike. A #Safe2Sturgis hashtag was included in the campaign to encourage motorists and riders to post photos of how all roadway users were staying safe to Sturgis.
