Cameras also will be installed to increase safety for law enforcement officers and CDOT maintenance crews and reduce congestion that may result from traffic stops.

Safety speed cameras detect speeding and capture photographic or video evidence of vehicles that are violating speed limits.

CDOT said speed safety cameras are estimated to reduce fatalities and injuries by 20% to 37%.
