LEL team begins distributing FY24 High Visibility Impaired Driving Enforcement (HVE) applications to law enforcement agencies across Colorado

In April, the law enforcement liaison team began distributing the FY24 High Visibility Impaired Driving Enforcement (HVE) applications to law enforcement agencies across Colorado. CDOT's Office of Transportation Safety (OTS) provides funding for overtime enforcement of Colorado's impaired driving laws for the enforcement. To participate, officers must be Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) certified and in good standing for enforcement of Colorado's impaired driving laws. There are 16 enforcement periods which may be conducted as checkpoints, saturation patrols, increased patrols, or dedicated enforcement cars. The fiscal year runs July 1 - June 30.
