A DUI will cost you close to a pot of gold, says CDOT, during St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period

The luck of the Irish will only get you so far, which is why CDOT urges spirited Coloradans to not throw away their lucky charms by driving impaired this weekend. A DUI will put you in a pinch and cost you a lot of green. Penalties are determined by the court and may vary but could exceed $13,500.
The St. Patrick’s Day weekend high visibility enforcement period will be active March 17-20. Law enforcement will be on high alert to help remove impaired drivers from Colorado roads. The Memorial Day weekend enforcement period will follow from May 27-30.
During the recent Presidents Day enforcement from Feb. 18-21, 73 law enforcement agencies reported 142 total arrests, a decrease from last year’s 362 arrests during the same period. The Colorado Springs Police Department (40) and Lakewood Police Department (10) recorded the highest number of arrests.
