RECORDING - TZD Traffic Safety Hotdish: Improving safety for aging drivers...and we are all aging
Webinars and Conferences
Impaired driving is often blamed on a driver being drunk or drugged. The Minnesota Strategic Highway Safety Plan has recognized that aging can lead to physical and cognitive changes that impair the driver's ability to drive in a safe manner. Although any aged driver may be cognitively or physically impaired, normal aging increases the risk of impaired driving. Learn about these age-related changes, tools that help to objectively identify the impairment, actions to consider when the aging driver is unsafe, and options that can help increase older driver safety while maintaining the sensitivity needed when balancing the need to save lives with concerns regarding loss of independence.
