Car Seats Colorado takes on Child Passenger Safety Week with tips and tools for parents

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 46% of car seats are not used correctly, putting millions of children at severe risk of injury or death. This is an alarming statistic given that car crashes are a leading cause of death among children under the age of 13. Car Seats Colorado – a joint program between CDOT and the Colorado State Patrol — works to educate parents and caregivers on proper car seat installation and use, and provides training opportunities to Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. 

During National Child Passenger Safety Week, Sept. 20-26, Car Seats Colorado is partnering with the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) and Swedish Medical Center to host a free car seat check event and encourage parents to take the necessary steps to protect their children in vehicles. Car Seats Colorado is also working with Denver Health to distribute educational materials to new parents, and will be participating in a virtual car seat check event put on by NHTSA. Also tune in to your radio because Car Seats Colorado has launched a statewide radio campaign on Pandora, Entravision stations and KBNO to raise awareness among parents and caregivers.
