US 6 Culvert Improvements in Garfield County

About the Project

The project will take place on US 6 from Mile Point 92.2 to MP 96.5 between Rifle and Silt, Colo.

Work consists of:

  • one culvert replacement
  • one culvert improvement

This project is in conjunction with the CO 133 chip seal project that will start June 3. The chip seal project will improve approximately 24 miles of CO 133 from Roaring Fork High School (MP 66.9) and will continue to McClure Pass (MP 42).

Project Benefits

Improvements and replacement of culverts will accommodate higher accumulations of rainfall and lower the risks associated with flooding to maintain safe driving conditions.

  • Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:

  • Plan for 10-minute delays
  • Speed reduction to 40 MPH
  • One-lane alternating traffic guided by flagging personnel
  • 10-foot width restriction
