US 50 Coaldale to Salida Resurfacing Project
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation, with its contract partner, ARY Corporation, began work on US 50 from Coaldale to Salida in mid-April 2024. The traveling public can expect daytime lane and shoulder closures. The project is scheduled for completion in late April of 2025. Project work consists of US 50 resurfacing from Coaldale to Salida from MP 222 to MP 241. Once complete, the project will improve drivability and provide safer driving conditions for motorists.

Work Schedule
- Construction on the project is anticipated to take place April 2024 to late April 2025
- Working hours are 30 minutes after sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset, Monday to Friday
- Winter Shutdown from Jan. 20, 2025 through mid-April 2025
Traffic Impacts
Beginning in late July, there will be a 24/7 single lane closure on US Highway 50 at Howard, between Salida and Coaldale at Mile Post 233.8. This single lane closure will be controlled by temporary traffic signals, and will continue through October 2024. The closure will be used for replacement of the bridge deck at MP 233.8. Travelers can expect 15 minute hold times, and no detour is required.
