About the Project:

Beginning in late-April, the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work to improve approximately 10 miles of US 50 in Fremont County, beginning at Coaldale and ending near Texas Creek.

The project will greatly enhance safety for travelers on this two-lane heavily trafficked highway. When completed motorists will experience a smoother roadway with improved safety. Busy highways must bear heavy commercial truck traffic as well as passenger vehicles. About every 10-15 years asphalt roads need to have their top layers milled and resurfaced. Periodic resurfacing of the top layer of asphalt and timely repairs can greatly extend the life of the highway pavement.
