US 285 Resurfacing in Park County

About the Project

The project area spans from Pine Junction west on US 285 to just past Bailey. Work consists of resurfacing and widening US 285 in Park County for approximately eight miles. It also includes resurfacing the on and off-ramps at County Road 72. A detour will be in place when this work takes place. Additionally, a new eastbound turn-lane will be built at County Road 64A.

Project Benefits

  • Resurfacing helps prevent potholes, cracks and other surface irregularities that can cause accidents
  • It provides a more even surface, which improves vehicle control and reduces the risk of skidding or losing control, especially in wet conditions
  • It can also enhance visibility for drivers and decrease wear and tear on a vehicle
  • This project also includes a new turn-lane for a safer highway exit

Work Schedule

  • From June through project completion in October:
    • The project will transition to working nights
    • Hours of operation will be 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. 

Traffic Impacts

  • There will not be any major impacts during the day
  • Motorists can expect that a travel lane will be open in each direction until June
  • From June through project completion in October, traffic will be reduced to a single lane with a pilot car operation
