US 160 Cortez Signal Improvements

About the Project:

This project is located on US 160 in the City of Cortez, in Montezuma County. The project will consist of signal improvements at the intersection of US 160 and CO 145, as well as the intersection of US 160 and Chestnut Street.  Work will include the replacement of old existing traffic Signals, poles and electronics.  

Traffic signal improvements to these intersections will improve traffic flow for motorists and enhance pedestrian safety at crosswalks.

Work Schedule:

  • Work is scheduled to begin on May 8 and is expected to be completed by late July 2023
  • Working hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

Traffic Impacts:

Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:

  • Vehicles, bikes and pedestrians should expect some travel impacts throughout the construction of this project.
  • Motorists should be aware of lane closures and lane shifts in the intersections.
  • Motorists are urged to watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.
  • Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures.
  • Some night work will be performed during this project.
