Sign Improvements in El Paso & Teller Counties
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contract partner Road Safe Traffic will begin working on removal and replacement of road signs along multiple highways in various counties in south central Colorado on Jan. 13.
The project will take place in El Paso and Teller Counties on the following highways.
El Paso County:
- CO 16 near Fountain (MP 0.00 to MP 1.31)
- US 21 near Colorado Springs (MP 153.641 to MP 154.112)
- US 83 near Colorado Springs (MP 20.368 to MP 30.474)
- US 85 near Woodland Park (MP 76.920 to MP 78.080)
- CO 105 near Palmer Lake (MP 5.314 to MP 9.490)
Teller County:
- US 24 near Woodland Park (MP 277.943 to MP 291.393)
- CO 67 near Woodland Park (MP 76.920 to MP 78.080)
Work is expected to be completed by June 2025.

Project Benefits
Crews will be updating signage that will benefit the public by providing new and improved road signs along multiple highways making the routes safer routes.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Traffic Impacts:
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- Shoulder closures as well as single lane closures
- Traffic fines will be doubled in the work zone
- Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone, drive with caution, allow extra space between vehicles and give themselves extra travel time
