Approximately one mile of the southbound I-25 Express Lane, between mile points 251 and 250, from approximately Weld County Road 44 to Weld County Road 46, is closed through late 2027.
The speed limit on the project has been lowered to 65 mph. Please obey speed limit signs.
Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Weld County Road 38 and Weld County Road 34, west of I-25, will have brief, intermittent closures controlled by flaggers to allow truck access for dirt hauling.
Tuesday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be north- and southbound I-25 left lane closures between Weld County Road 32 and the Little Thompson River to allow crews to apply lane striping.
Due to weather impacts, the temporary closure of Valley Road is now scheduled to start on Wednesday at 9 p.m. to allow crews to install bridge girders over the road on Wednesday and Thursday night and perform additional work to reconstruct the bridge. This closure will be in place through summer 2025. Motorists should plan accordingly, as no detour route is available.
Wednesday and Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the southbound I-25 on-ramp at Colorado Highway 56 and the southbound I-25 right lane will be closed to allow equipment to access the bridge girder installation area at Valley Road.
- Traffic on CO 56 intending to travel south will turn north to Colorado Highway 60, turn around and enter I-25 South.
Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the southbound I-25 off-ramp at WCR 34 will be closed to allow crews to move crane equipment. A detour will be in place:
- Traffic exiting I-25 at WCR 34 will continue south to Colorado Highway 66, turn around and travel north to exit 245.
Additional Closures:
Due to continued supplier issues, the temporary closure of Weld County Road 32 under I-25 east of Mead has been rescheduled to Monday, April 14 through Saturday, April 19, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., to allow crews to install new bridge girders over the roadway.
- Westbound WCR 32 traffic will take the East I-25 Frontage Road south to Mulligan Street, turn east to County Road 9.5, turn south to Colorado Highway 66, turn west to Weld County Road 7 and turn north to WCR 32.
- Eastbound WCR 32 traffic will take WCR 7 south to CO 66, turn east to WCR 9.5, and turn north to WCR 32.
Also, the southbound I-25 on-ramp closure at WCR 34 has been rescheduled to Friday, April 18 at 9 p.m. through Saturday, April 19 at 5 p.m. for pipe installation and asphalt work.
- Traffic on WCR 34 intending to travel south will turn north to CO 56, turn around and enter southbound I-25.
Southbound I-25 traffic shifted to the northbound lanes between CO 56 and CO 66 into a head-to-head configuration and will be in place through 2025.
As of Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, the I-25 North Express Lanes, Berthoud to Fort Collins, hit a major milestone and is now substantially complete.
While most of the work in this section of I-25 is done, CDOT and the contractors will have various intermittent lane closures through spring 2024 to finish final project punch list tasks. The Express Lanes are now open for testing, but drivers should also prepare for intermittent closures of these lanes in 2024. Express Lane tolls are waived during the testing phase.
For future project updates and information, please continue to check the project website and CoTrip.org.
Drivers are encouraged to try the Express Lanes by entering through the dashed white lines. When using the lanes, drivers are reminded to follow these rules to ensure the safety of everyone on the road:
- Do not cross the solid white lines (tickets for violations start at $75 each).
- Enter and exit at the designated areas only, which are marked with a white dotted line.
- Obey posted speed limits. The Express Lanes cannot be used to pass slower moving vehicles.
Motorists should expect various overnight and lane closures, including in the Express Lanes, while the last of the construction wraps up and tolling equipment is installed. The Express Lanes are anticipated to begin tolling in 2024. Once tolling begins in 2024, motorists are encouraged to sign up for an ExpressToll account to save an average of 40% on tolls.
No major traffic impacts this week.
Segments 6, 7 and 8 have reached substantial completion and will have intermittent lane and ramp closures through spring.
