I-70 Rural Bridge Rehabilitation

About the Project

Bridge preventative maintenance work will occur just east of Limon on a 33-mile stretch from Limon to Flagler (Mile Points 362 to 394.5).

The first phase of the bridge preventative maintenance project will happen over eight months on I-70, beginning just east of Limon (MP 362) and moving east toward Flagler (MP 394.5).

The work will include:

  • removing the existing concrete deck topping or hot mix asphalt 
  • receiving a polyester concrete overlay or waterproof membrane and hot mix asphalt overlay

Project Benefits

The preventative maintenance work will feature benefits including:

  • repairs to the existing bridge deck and expansion joints, improving the bridge's durability
  • new overlays, including Polyester and Asphalt, designed to increase the lifetime of the bridge decks

Work Schedule

  • Work will last approximately eight months
  • Daytime work hours are from Monday through Friday, 30 minutes after sunrise (approximately 7 a.m.) to 30 minutes before sunset (approximately 5:30 p.m.)

Traffic Impacts

  • Vehicles will be reduced to a single-lane, alternating traffic intermittently in either direction controlled by temporary traffic signals throughout the duration of the project
  • Lane closures will have minor delays
  • Speed limit will be reduced through the work zone. Speed Limit reduction may vary depending on the location of the structure
