I-70 Floyd Hill Monthly Update - February 2023
Project Update
First Responders Meet With Project Team
On February 28, emergency first responders met with the I-70 Floyd Hill project team to learn about design, construction and provide feedback. Maintaining access to first responders is a top project priority. The project team will work closely with emergency first responders as the I-70 Floyd Hill project moves into construction by early summer 2023 and has committed to meeting quarterly with the group, and more often as needed.
Genesee Wildlife Underpass Shifts Traffic to Continue Construction
In mid-February, crews shifted westbound I-70 traffic to allow for better access to build the underpass. Motorists can expect narrower lanes and a reduced speed limit of 55 mph. The majority of upcoming work will now take place off the roadway.
Once complete, the wildlife underpass at Genesee is expected to deliver significant safety improvements to I-70 by reducing animal-vehicles collisions by up to 90 percent. Learn more about the project here.
Work Ramps Up For US 40 Roundabouts Project
Motorists can anticipate daytime flagging operations on both Homestead Road and County Road 65 as crews complete utility relocates. Once the utility work is completed, construction on the roundabouts will begin. Motorists can anticipate similar daytime flagging operations to continue, with work beginning primarily at Homestead Road. Occasional daytime flagging on the westbound I-70 on-ramp at Homestead Road can also be expected. Learn more about the project here.
