Traffic and Construction Impacts

ALERT

  • Columbine Street will close June 1 and Clayton Street will close June 6 north of 46th Avenue so crews can build the bridges that will carry motorists over the lowered portion of I-70. These streets will reopen on Aug. 19.

  • Peoria Street on-ramp to westbound I-70 will close for a weekend starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 14 and reopening at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 17. Construction crews will rebuild the new on-ramp at this time. See the detour map below.

Ongoing Work

  • Brighton Boulevard is one lane in each direction around I-70 to rebuild interchange
  • Lane restrictions at Brighton Boulevard and 44th Street intersection for signal work
  • Columbine and Clayton streets closed north of 46th Avenue until Monday, August 19 for bridge construction
  • Thompson Court permanently closed between 46th Avenue and Project sound wall to the north
  • Vasquez Boulevard frontage road west of Steele Street is permanently closed
  • Continued closure of Stapleton Drive North between Dahlia and Holly streets for roadway work
  • Stapleton Drive North and South reduced to one lane for interstate widening
  • Holly Street closed under I-70 until Wednesday, July 10 for bridge construction and utility work
  • Airlawn Road permanently closed between Stapleton Drive South and Niagara Street
  • Continued work at the Peoria Street and I-70 interchange, including construction of the new I-70 bridge
  • Construction of the new I-270 flyover structure

Upcoming Work

  • 46th Avenue between Jackson Street and ramp to southbound Colorado Boulevard to permanently close. Access to businesses will be maintained
  • Traffic pattern shifts on Stapleton Drive North and South
  • Lane restrictions and closures on Dahlia Street for bridge construction
  • Peoria Street on-ramp to eastbound I-70 to close Friday, June 28 – Monday, July 1

Construction activities will be happening day and night. Activities that occur overnight will be within the noise variance limits of 75 decibel hourly average with an allowable spike up to 86 decibels. To make a complaint about construction noise during the night call the 24-hour hotline at 833-C70-INFO (270-4636). DDPHE regulates the noise variance and residents may also call the city at 3-1-1.       • Stapleton Drive (north and south) between Colorado Boulevard and Quebec Street
      • I-70 between Quebec Street and I-225 interchange

        • I-270 flyover
