I-270 Bridge Preventative Maintenance
About the Project:
The Colorado Department of Transportation, in partnership with Kiewit Infrastructure, is pleased to announce the successful completion of preventative maintenance on eight bridges within a two-mile section of I-270, between York Street and Vasquez Boulevard in Commerce City. The project, which began in September 2023, focused on addressing urgent repair needs. The work involved replacing aging asphalt with reinforced concrete panels, creating a safer and more durable driving surface. In addition, the bridge decking was replaced and resurfaced, greatly enhancing the safety and condition of the bridges until their full replacement as part of the I-270 Corridor Improvements Project. These crucial infrastructure upgrades ensure the ongoing safety of this vital roadway.
Project Benefits
- This project will greatly improve the driving surface and safety of these bridge decks until the bridge structures can be completely replaced in the future as part of the I-270 Corridor Improvements Project.
- The resurfaced bridges will prevent lengthy and unexpected lane closures in the future because of emergency pavement repairs.
