I-25 Raton Pass Resurfacing
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation, in partnership with United Companies, will begin the Interstate 25 Resurfacing project south of Trinidad on Raton Pass on April 7, 2025. This project is located in Las Animas County with the work zone stretching from Colorado-New Mexico state line (Mile Point 0) to just south of Exit 8 (MP 7.6).
Work consists of:
- Two and a half inches hot mix asphalt mill and overlay
- Pavement markings and delineation
The project is expected to be complete in Fall 2025.

Traffic Impacts
Motorists and area residents can expect the following impacts during construction:
- Traffic holds up to 10 minutes
- Single lane closures, double lane closures and shoulder closures will take place within the work zone
- Reduced speeds in the work zone
- Plan ahead and expect short delays
