I-25 Resurfacing North of Walsenburg Project
About the Project:
The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Martin Marietta Materials, Inc., will begin re-paving I-25. Structural repairs will also be completed on multiple bridge structures while working on I-25. Work is set to begin May 1, 2023 and the anticipated completion is late October 2023.
The construction work will begin on I-25 approximately 9 miles north of Walsenburg near the Huerfano Butte at Mile Point 58. The project will conclude at MP 65, after the Lascar Road Exit. While working on this project, crews will also make minor repairs to bridge structures over the Huerfano River and the Greasewood Arroyo.
Project Benefits:
- New asphalt overlay to the existing pavement will provide motorists with a smoother ride.
- Other safety improvements include replacing guardrail and updating striping for brighter and more visible lane recognition.
- Rumble strips will be installed on the shoulder and are an effective measure for reducing roadway departure crashes.
Work Schedule:
- Daytime work hours are from sun-up to sun-down, Monday through Friday.
Traffic Impacts:
- During construction, there may be shoulder closures, single lane closures in both directions, and possible ramp closures.
- Speed limit of 60 MPH through the construction zone
- Construction trucks entering and exiting the work zone
