I-25 and Crystal Valley interchange project (Town of Castle Rock)

About the Project:

The Town of Castle Rock in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Transport and Douglas County are construction a new interchange at I-25 and Crystal Valley Parkway including a new bridge over I-25, reconstruction of Frontage Roads and new local road connections on both side of I-25. This top transportation priority will improve safety and mobility in the surrounding community and provide a key regional transportation link from I-25 to southern Castle Rock and Douglas County.

Project Benefits

• Provide new crossing over I-25 reduce distance for east/west travel on Crystal Valley Parkway
• New on- and off-ramps at Crystal Valley Parkway to access I-25
• New roundabout east of I-25 to increase flow of traffic and reduce congestion
• Frontage Road reconstruction to tie-into the new interchange and roundabout
• New bridge over the Railroad to allow for future expansion planned by BNSF.

Work Schedule:

To help reduce impacts on the traveling public during construction, most of this project will be constructed in phases, with work occurring outside of the active travel lanes.

• Work will last from early 2024 through early 2027
• Working hours 6 a.m. through 6 p.m., Monday to Friday
• Some overnight and weekend work is expected

Traffic Impacts:

Motorists and pedestrians can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:

• Lane closures in both directions of Crystal Valley Parkway
• Traffic shifts on Crystal Valley Parkway, Frontage Roads and I-25
• Reduced speeds through the work zone
• Narrowed lanes and reduced shoulders
• Flagging operations will be in place along local roads to safely direct traffic through construction activities
• Full closure of the Front Range (Plum Creek) Trail.
• Signs will be posted to alert motorists to the closures and available detour routes
