Weekly Traffic Impacts & Planned Work


Traffic Impacts - March 23 to March 29


Please be advised that there are no scheduled traffic impacts or restrictions within the work zone for next week for the I-25 & CO 7 Interim Transit Improvement project in Adams and Broomfield counties. 

No Daytime Traffic Impacts
 

Monday, March 24 to Friday, March 28 - Northbound & Southbound I-25 at Exit 229 (CO 7) - no planned closures
  • There are no scheduled traffic impacts during this weekly period
  • Working hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday (except on holidays)
  • Some overnight (7 p.m. to 5 a.m.) and weekend work is expected
  • The project limits on I-25 extend from Mile Point 228 to MP 230
  • The project limits on CO 7 extend from MP 68 to MP 69
  • Signs and construction devices will be present to alert motorists to the work zone and any restrictions
  • Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change
  • Please refer to cotrip.org to plan your trips
Work includes mobilizing equipment, surveying, implementing erosion control measures, and clearing and grubbing.

General Travel Impacts, Schedule & Scope of Work

  • The project began the week of March 16 and is expected to last for approximately 16 months
  • The project precedes the CO 7 BRT Transit Starter Service project from Brighton to Boulder which is slated to begin in 2026
  • Work includes building Bustang slip ramps for the northbound I-25 off ramp and southbound I-25 on ramp and a pedestrian bridge over I-25
  • Other work includes adding sidewalks, replacing traffic signals, building a Park-n-Ride lot in the southeast corner of the interchange, and installing a Permanent Water Quality Pond at the northeast corner to accommodate the future mobility hub
  • Motorists can expect periodic closures of the northbound I-25 off ramp and southbound I-25 on ramp at Exit 229 (CO 7) during safety critical bridge work
  • Overnight lane closures on the ramps and on mainline I-25 will exist during certain work activities
  • Signs and construction devices will be present to alert motorists to the work zone, impacts and other restrictions
  • The project is located at the junction of I-25 and CO 7 in the City of Thornton
  • The project limits fall within Adams and Broomfield counties
  • The project limits on I-25 include the on and off ramps and extend from Mile Point 228 to MP 230
  • The project limits on CO 7 extend from MP 68 to MP 69
  • Work will be performed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, with some overnight (7 p.m. to 5 a.m.) and weekend work also expected
  • The project has an anticipated duration of 16 months
  • Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change

Nearby Project Impacts

 

CO 7 Bike Lane Shoulder Widening

  • Shoulder widening project to add a bike lane to each side of CO 7 (East Baseline Road) just east of Flagg Drive in Lafayette.
  • Work will take place on both the eastbound and westbound lanes throughout this half-mile stretch of the road between Mile Points 64.25 and 64.74
  • Work is expected to last until late 2025

CO 7 Resurfacing between I-25 & Brighton

  • The project includes asphalt patching, milling, paving, ramp repair, pipe work and traffic light installation
  • These improvements will increase the longevity, smoothness and safety of the road
  • The project limits extend from Mile Point 66.92 to MP 77.05 on CO 7
  • Work will resume in spring and last until the end of July
  • Expect shoulder closures, full closures, turn lane closures and alternating lanes
