CO 83 Douglas County Sign Replacement
Work this Week
March 20 - 25, 2023For work this week, motorists should plan for:
- Intermittent shoulder closures and single lane closures from MP 30.2 (Palmer Divide Road) to MP 53.9 (Bayou Gulch Road)
- Saturday, March 18 and Monday, March 20 through Saturday, March 25 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Drivers are asked to obey the speed limit reductions and construction road signs during this time.
About the Project:
The Colorado Department of Transportation and contract partner Work Zone Traffic Control will begin a sign replacement
project on Colorado Highway 83 mid January 2023. New signs will be installed along CO 83 from Mile Point 30.2, El Paso
County line, to MP 53.9, Bayou Gulch.
Work will include the removal of 317 worn out signs, installation of 349 new signs and installation of new sign posts. The new
signs will consist of speed limit, directional, street, mile point, guide, regulatory, warning signs and flashing beacons. The
new signs will have better reflectivity at night to help motorists navigate the highway safely.
Work Schedule & Traffic Impacts
- Motorists should plan for shoulder closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The project has an anticipated
completion date the end of March.
