CO 74 Evergreen Lake North Trail
About the Project
The Evergreen Lake North Trail Project was needed in response to the Spring 2016 closure of the trail along CO 74 on the north side of Evergreen Lake between Upper Bear Creek Road and Evergreen Dam. The project created a multimodal transportation system that improves bike/pedestrian facilities while fixing urgent drainage and stability issues under a critical trail linkage that is adjacent to CO 74 on the north side of Evergreen Lake in Evergreen, Colorado.
Improvements to the Evergreen Lake North Trail also included widening the trail to meet AASHTO criteria for shared use paths, created improved fishing opportunities and wildlife viewing, and provided for drainage improvements and bank stabilization.
The project's goal was to work with the community, stakeholders, and funders and create a long-term solution for the Evergreen Lake North Trail to improve safety, accessibility, and connectivity in our community.
Project Funding:
The Evergreen Lake North Trail improvement is a seven-year, multiple-agency collaboration led by Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) and to be constructed by ESCO Construction of Evergreen. The project has been funded primarily by grants and contributions from Denver Regional Council of Governments; Jefferson County Open Space, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Evergreen Metropolitan District, CDOT, Great Outdoors Colorado, Colorado Department of Local Affairs, Evergreen Legacy Fund, and EPRD. In all, about 91% of the construction project budget comes from federal, state and grant funding. EPRD is grateful for the support of the project’s many partners, funders, stakeholders, and the Evergreen community.
