CO 318 Resurfacing Project Moffat County
About the Project:
The Colorado Department of Transportation and Elam Construction of Grand junction have scheduled resurfacing work along CO Highway 318 in Moffat County from the Utah/Colorado State Line west of Maybell. The project will include a 1” hot mix asphalt lane level paving and a 1.5” HMA overlay located on CO 318 for 12.5 miles from Mile Point 0, at UT/CO State Line, to MP 12.5, west of Maybell. Other work consists of rumble strip installation and pavement marking.
Project Benefits:
- The HMA will add approximately 10 years of life to the highway, provide a smoother road surface and will durability by increasing the resistance of ruts and road damage. This will allow for a smoother and safer drive for motorists.
- Other benefits of the project include installation of rumble strips which will warn motorists when they are leaving their lane and help with crash reductions.
Work Schedule:
- Work is expected to be completed late August 2023
- Normal working hours will be Monday trough Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Traffic Impacts:
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- There will be one-lane alternating traffic
- Delays up to 15 minutes can be expected
- The speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph through the work zone
- Loads wider than 10 feet will be restricted through the work zone during hours of operation
