CO 2 Curb Ramp Improvements Project

Project Complete!

On April 12, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Jalisco International Inc. will update curb ramps to Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliance along approximately 10 miles of Colorado Boulevard between East Girard Avenue and 52nd Avenue in Denver. Work is scheduled to be completed in September 2021.

Project Benefits

Bringing curb ramps to ADA compliance will improve the efficiency and ease of use for pedestrians traveling along Colorado Boulevard. "ADA compliant curb ramps enable all pedestrians to safely navigate across intersections. With Colorado Boulevard frequently being a high-traffic road, this project will serve to increase the safety for both motorists and pedestrians,” says Shoshana Lew, executive director for CDOT.

Phases & Anticipated Start Dates:

  • Phase 1: E Girard Avenue to Iowa Avenue - April 12
  • Phase 2: Florida Avenue to E 8th Avenue - May 3
  • Phase 3: E 8th Place to Haddon Road - June 22
  • Phase 4: E 28th Avenue to 52nd Avenue - August 17

Work Schedule

  • Work is scheduled to start April 12, 2021 and finish in September 2021.
  • Work hours will be from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays with lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Traffic Impacts

  • Motorists can expect various single lane closures and shoulder closures within the work areas during daytime hours.
  • Curb ramps may be temporarily inaccessible while upgrades are being made.
  • Slowdowns and delays are expected.
  • Please drive safely through the work area when crews are present.
