CO 12 Bridge Replacement in Las Animas County

About the Project:

The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Siete, Inc., will replace an aging bridge on CO 12 between Stonewall and Weston. The bridge is located at mile point 42.75, over the North Fork Purgatoire River. The anticipated completion date is December 2023.

Project Benefits:

This rural roadway provides important mobility to this region of Las Animas County and replacing the 85-year-old bridge will provide motorists with a stable and up to date structure with a 100-year design life, wider shoulders and smoother pavement. While working on this project, crews will also make safety improvements to this stretch of highway by replacing the existing guardrail and installing rumble strips and delineators.

Work Schedule:

  • Daytime work hours range from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Alternating lane closure with a temporary traffic signal guiding traffic through the one-way detour.
  • Speed limit of 40 MPH through the construction zone.
  • Construction trucks entering and exiting the work zone.
