CO 119 & CO 7 Resurfacing

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation and prime contractor, Brannan Sand and Gravel, will be performing an asphalt rehabilitation project on CO Highway 119 (Boulder Canyon Drive) and CO Highway 7 (Canyon Boulevard) within the City and County of Boulder.

For the first phase of work, crews will be using a mill and overlay process to resurface the eastern half of the project zone along CO 7 (Canyon Boulevard) from Broadway to 28th Street (Mile Point 49.5 to MP 50.6). The second phase will focus on CO 119 (Boulder Canyon Road) from Broadway west toward the start of Boulder Canyon (MP 40.7 to 41.9).

This phase will require a total roadway reconstruction including:

  • The full depth removal of existing asphalt
  • Subgrade reconditioning
  • Installation of new asphalt

Additional operations will include:

  • Miscellaneous sidewalk
  • Curb and gutter
  • Concrete curb ramp repairs

The project team will also install new sections of guardrail and carry out final restoration landscaping around the entirety of the project zone.

    • Drivers can anticipate concrete sidewalk upgrades and utility relocations through the entirety of the work zone along both CO 119 and CO 7
    • During this time, there will be single alternating lane closures in each direction during nighttime hours
  • For the following two weeks leading into Memorial Day Weekend:
    • Drivers can anticipate nighttime milling and paving operations on CO 7 from 28th Street to Broadway
    • During this time, there will be single and double lane closures with one through-lane of travel open in both directions
