CO 115 & Broadway Traffic Signal Project

This week, crews will perform overhead sign, flashing beacon and other signal work. Other planned activities include making wire terminations and installing riprap. No work will be performed and no closures will exist on Friday, July 1 and Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Motorists can expect:

  • Northbound and southbound right turn lane and shoulder closures on CO 115 at Broadway Street and Marilyn Drive from MP 14.59 to MP 15.09 will exist Monday to Thursday during working hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Construction devices will be present 24/7 through the work zone, but removed from the roadway when no work is being performed
  • No work will be performed on Friday, July 1 and Monday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day weekend
  • No closures will be in place through the work zone from 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5

About the Project:

This state funded project entails making traffic flow and intersection improvements at Colorado Highway 115 and Broadway Street in Penrose.

Work includes adding traffic signals and reconstructing the roadway, installing curb ramps and sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliance, and making other safety improvements.

Sturgeon Electric Company has been selected as the prime contractor for this project.

Project Limits:

  • The project limits extend from Mile Point 14.59 to MP 15.09 on CO 115.

Work Schedule

  • The project began on March 2 and is expected to last until late July.
  • Work will be performed during daytime hours Monday to Friday with some night and weekend work expected.

Traffic Impacts

  • Lane and sidewalk closures will be in place at the intersection of CO 115 and Broadway Street from project kickoff through completion.
  • Full closures of Broadway Street will exist during roadway reconstruction with detour signage in place offering alternate routes.
  • Intermittent closures of CO 115, Broadway Street and Marilyn Drive will exist during traffic signal setup.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained during construction activities.
