CO 115 Improvements - Colorado Springs to Penrose

Anticipated traffic impacts for the week of 11/28/2022 include:

  • CO 115 is reduced to one lane in each direction from Roca Roja Circle (mile point 35.5) to Rock Creek Canyon Road/Wilderness Road (MP 39)
  • Intermittent flagging for equipment access, Monday through Friday (MP 35.5 to 39.0) - follow crew instructions
    24/7 shoulder closures (MP 35.5 to 39.0)
  • Reduced work zone speed limit of 45 mph
  • Oversize vehicle width restriction of 11 feet

Construction activities include:

  • Placing road base
  • Subgrade work at Little Turkey Creek bridge
  • Continuing Rock Creek bridge work

All work is weather-dependent, and the schedule is subject to change.

About the Project:

CDOT is constructing a major improvement project on Colorado Highway 115. The project improves roadway and bridge safety on CO 115 from mile point (MP) 27.7 to MP 39 by adding passing lanes, right turn lanes, reconstructing Rock Creek Bridge, and performing major rehabilitation or reconstruction of cracked and distressed pavement

Work Schedule:

  • Phased construction from July 2022 - December 2023
  • Crews will primarily work during daylight hours Monday through Friday.
  • Night and weekend work are anticipated for several work activities to expedite construction and reduce traffic impacts.

  • The initial phase of construction will focus on the northern three miles of the work zone (MP 35.5 – MP 39).
