I-270 York Street Bridge Preventative Maintenance

Project completed

Project Recap

The Colorado Department of Transportation and contracting partner, Structures, Inc. successfully completed the necessary structural improvements under the York Street Bridge on Interstate 270 in Commerce City.

Shoring and catchment systems were installed on the bridge's underside to substantially improve its safety and stability until a full bridge replacement can be completed as part of the I-270 Corridor Improvements Project. Wooden decking and metal catchment systems were strategically mounted under areas of the bridge to prevent debris from falling beneath and onto I-270. These enhancements create a more stable driving surface, provide safety for I-270 motorists and help reduce emergency lane closures due to safety issues.

About the Project

Repairs began on the York Street Bridge over I-270 in Commerce City in December 2024.

Shoring and catchment systems will be installed on the underside of the bridge to significantly improve its safety and condition until a full bridge replacement can be completed as part of the I-270 Corridor Improvements project.

The project will mount a wooden decking system under areas of the bridge to prevent debris from falling beneath and onto I-270. This work will create a more stable driving surface on the York Street Bridge and help to prevent emergency lane closures due to safety issues. Work on this project is scheduled for completion by March 2025.
