I-70 Vail Pass Eastbound Resurfacing
Project completed
About the Project:
The resurfacing project will take place on the eastbound right lane on I-70 Vail Pass from MP 190, west of Copper Mountain, to MP 203, east of Frisco. Work will consist of will milling the existing asphalt and paving 2” of new hot mix asphalt. The project will improve 13 miles of worn out roadway of eastbound I-70 right drive lane.
Project Benefits
- The right lane receives more travel causing extraordinary depletion of the highway. The new asphalt will extend the life of the highway, provide a smoother road surface and will add durability by increasing the resistance of ruts and road damage.
Work Schedule:
Different from the traffic impacts, this should be the general working hours and schedule of the project. Example:
- Work will last for 360 working days or approximately 18 months
- Working hours are 30 minutes after sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset, Monday to Friday
- Some overnight and weekend work is expected
Traffic Impacts:
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- Lane closures in both directions of <location>
- Traffic shifts on <location>
- Reduced speeds through the work zone
- Narrowed lanes and reduced shoulders
- Detour routes will be in place during certain work activities with approximately seven minutes and 10 miles added to travel times
- Width restrictions
- Signs will be posted to alert motorists to the closures and available detour routes
- Refer to COtrip.org for real-time travel conditions and road closures
