US 85/US 34 Bypass
US 85 Bypass Project Description
This project completely reconstructed the US 85 bypass from US 34 to 5th Street in Greeley. Existing pavement was removed and replaced, current median and asphalt shoulders were replaced with concrete, turn lanes were extended and widened to current standards, traffic signals were replaced at 5th and 16th streets, and bridge decks were replaced at the twin bridges over the Poudre River. In conjunction with this project, the railroad tracks were removed at 16th Street to allow for intersection upgrades.
Rehabilitating and reconstructing the bypass not only creates a safer trip for drivers, but also creates a smoother ride, reducing wear and tear on vehicles. Additionally, having a more efficient transportation system will support economic and job growth in the area.
Castle Rock Construction was the contractor for this $12.1 million project.
Work for the project started in June 2012 and lasted until September 2013.
