US 85 (Santa Fe Drive) over Dad Clark Gulch

About this Project

As part of the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) FASTER Program, CDOT is reconstructing and replacing many bridges in the State of Colorado that have low sufficiency ratings. The bridge that carries northbound US 85 (Santa Fe Drive) traffic over the Dad Clark Gulch had been identified for replacement through the FASTER Program.

FASTER – Funding Advancements for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery – is financed by vehicle registration fees. FASTER established a Statewide Bridge Enterprise, funding the maintenance and repair of Colorado’s most urgent structurally-deficient and functionally-obsolete bridges.

Existing Conditions and Upcoming Improvements

The existing northbound Santa Fe Drive over Dad Clark Gulch Bridge is located in Arapahoe County on northbound Santa Fe Drive between C-470 and West Mineral Avenue. It was originally constructed in the late 1930s. This bridge will be removed and the newer southbound Santa Fe Drive Bridge will be widened to accommodate the northbound Santa Fe Drive traffic lanes. In addition to bridge construction, there will be some drainage and roadway improvements.

Construction Schedule

CDOT selected Lawrence Construction Co. for this $2.4 million bridge project. The design portion of the project has been completed and construction is currently underway.  Working hours will take place from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, for the duration of this project. Delays are possible and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph in the construction zone.  The project is currently scheduled for completion on September 6, 2013, and will be completed within budget.  We thank you for your patience.
