US 85 Widening Project in Douglas County from Sedalia to Louviers

Project complete

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation, in partnership with Castle Rock Construction Company of Colorado LLC, announces the completion of the widening of US 85 to four lanes in Louviers to Sedalia in Douglas County.

Completed project components include additional lanes in both directions to improve safety as well as traffic congestion. A ten-foot-wide shoulder on either side as well as a large median to reduce crash risk and improve the safety of emergency stops. Further, the widening will reduce the danger where the road used to merge from two lanes to one. Approximately 618,000 cubic yards of dirt was removed from the project site, which equates to 190 filled olympic-sized swimming pools.

Now completed, the project will ease congestion, improve access to side streets and left turn lanes, improve drainage, enhance safety, keep wildlife access away, and added a new bridge.
