US 85 (Santa Fe) Resurfacing in Denver and Arapahoe Counties
Project completed
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation will resurface the two mainline travel lanes of both northbound and southbound Santa Fe Drive (US Highway 85). Construction will start at the junction of Hampden Avenue (US 285) and will continue northbound to Florida Avenue.
This two-mile resurfacing project will also replace damaged panels, bridge expansion joints on the Evans Avenue bridge over Santa Fe, and curb ramps. The resurfacing will create smoother pavement and improved driving conditions, which in turn will improve safety.

Traffic Impacts
- Beginning in May motorists will encounter road work on Santa Fe Drive.
- During nighttime activities, traffic flow will be reduced to one lane in each direction along Santa Fe Drive, with the use of flagger control.
- During daytime activities, traffic will only experience a single lane closure in one direction.
- Motorists may encounter reduced speeds within the project limits.
- Traffic fines will be doubled in the work zone. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zones, drive with caution, allow extra space between vehicles, and give themselves extra travel time.
