About the Project

Slope repair work will occur along US Highway 84, located about 7.7 miles from the New Mexico state line. Work will primarily consist of the installation of subsurface coupled shear piles beneath the roadway, replacement of pavement, guardrail, and an existing drainage culvert under the roadway and slope improvements on the downslope end of the project site.


Project Benefits

  • The project will help mitigate landslides and stabilize the US 84 roadway infrastructure.
  • Slope repairs along US 84 will help stabilize the roadway including widening the roadway to include a 13-foot shoulder.

Work Schedule

  • Work will last approximately seven months
  • Working hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Some weekend work is expected

Traffic Impacts

Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:

  • Vehicles will be reduced to a single-lane, alternating traffic
    intermittently in either direction, throughout the duration of the project
  • Lane closures, guided by primarily a temporary signal and flaggers, will have up to 15 minutes
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph through the work zone
