US 6 over Sheridan Boulevard Bridge Replacement

Project completed

US 6 and SheridanProject Overview

In early February 2012, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) began a construction project that will replace the US 6/6th Avenue bridge over Sheridan Boulevard and provides wider sidewalks under the bridge along Sheridan and at the four pedestrian islands.  The medians north and south of the bridge will be modified to increase left turn storage capacity which will help with the flow of traffic on Sheridan.  The project is tentatively scheduled for completion by late August or September of 2013. The existing bridge was originally constructed in 1961 and is in poor condition.

Funding Advancements for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery (FASTER) is funding this project.  Financed by vehicle registration fees, FASTER established a Statewide Bridge Enterprise, funding the maintenance and repair of Colorado’s most urgent structurally-deficient and functionally-obsolete bridges.
