US 50 Bonforte to Avondale Resurfacing

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation, and contractor Martin Marietta, are resurfacing US Highway 50 between Mile Post 316.5 and MP 331. Other improvements that will be done to the roadway include micro-surfacing, bridge work, guardrail replacement, ADA ramps, and possible slope paving.

Project Benefits:

The work being done will significantly improve the safety and functionality of the highway as well as extending the life of the asphalt pavement.


Work Schedule

  • Martin Marietta will resume work after a winter shutdown. Crews will begin milling starting May 1 on US 50 in the eastbound and westbound lanes between mile point 317.5 and MP 318.5 east of Troy Ave. The milling will be followed by paving in the same location. Crews will also be finishing sign installation and striping throughout the extent of the project, as well as completing the slope paving on the north slope at MP 319 just east of the CO 47/96 junction with US 50. The project is expected to be complete in May, 2023.

Traffic Impacts

  • Working times will be daytime hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Various lane and shoulder closures will take place within the work zone with speeds reduced to 40 mph.
