US 36/Foothills Parkway Bridge Deck Replacement
Project Description
The bridge deck on State Highway (SH) 157, also known as Foothills Parkway, is being replaced over US 36 in Boulder. Deck replacement includes tie-in-work to the existing highway on both sides of the bridge. The previous bridge, which was built in 1971, had been in poor condition. Although the bridge was still safe for use, repairs were very much needed.
Jalisco International, Inc. is the contractor for this $1.3 million project.
Project Timeline
This project began in October 2012, and fell behind slightly due to late spring 2013 storms. It is now expected to finish in September 2013.
Construction Impacts
During construction, the speed limit near and on the bridge has been reduced to 35 MPH and a single lane closure will continue to be in place on the bridge 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the duration of the project. In early June, a lane switch occurred for southbound Foothills traffic, and motorists should be prepared for new lane configurations. Some night work will be needed in the coming weeks, and will take place from approximately 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. It will also will require temporary single lane closures of US 36 beneath the bridge.
