US 160 and CO 100 Resurfacing in Baca County

About the Project:

The Colorado Department of Transportation announces improvements to US Highway 160 in Baca County beginning on March 28.  The project will improve approximately 12 miles of US 160 and CO 100 in Baca County. The project begins at mile point (MP) 464.4 and continues west to MP 475.94. Additionally, .4 miles of CO. 100 between MP 0.0 and MP 0.4, will also be repaved.

The work includes resurfacing the roadway, that will incorporate deck milling, shouldering; erosion control; guardrail replacement; mailbox replacement; reseeding, fencing; signing and final striping. The project was contracted to APC Southern Construction, of Golden, for 5.2 million and is expected to be completed in July.  

The project will enhance safety for travelers on this two-lane highway. When completed motorists will find a smoother roadway surface with high visibility markings and stabilized shoulders. A smooth highway surface is not only safer, but also enhances the driving experience for motorists.

  • Project work hours are daylight hours, Monday through Friday. No weekend work is currently anticipated.

Traffic Impacts

  • Project work hours are daylight hours, Monday through Friday. No weekend work is currently anticipated. Motorists will encounter brief closures with single-lane alternating traffic and should allow for travel delays of up to 10 minutes. Flagging personnel will be on sight to direct travelers as speed limits will reduced to 50 mph in project area and 40 mph in the immediate work zone.  There will also be a12-foot width restriction in place.
