Crews on this project completed rockfall mitigation on US Highway 6 in Clear Creek Canyon to protect motorists and reduce emergency closures when debris lands on the roadway.
Specific work included:
- scaling and removing thousands of tons of rock;
- installing mesh anchor and draped wire mesh; and
- reinforcing anchors.
Background
Rockfalls happen regularly in Clear Creek Canyon, ultimately causing closures, accidents and roadway deterioration. This project addressed these issues and reduced the overall impact of rockfalls in the canyon.
