US 40 Rabbit Ears East Resurfacing

Overview
On June 6, 2016, crews started this resurfacing project on US Highway 40 in Grand, Routt and Jackson counties—on Rabbit Ears Pass, east of Steamboat Springs (mile points 146-157).
Traffic Impacts
Work includes:
- repaving and surgically repairing the roadway;
- repainting pavement markers;
- adding rumble strips; and
- upgrading guardrail along the highway.
Unless noted otherwise, project work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Motorists can expect single lane closures with delays from five to 20 minutes long. No single lane closure will last for longer than two miles, but there may be multiple closures within the project zone.
No nighttime or weekend work is planned, but some may occur, depending upon weather.
