About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation, along with its contractor, Chato’s Concrete, LLC, will begin the US 40 (Colfax) ADA Ramp Upgrade project that will upgrade 103 curb ramps along a three-mile stretch of Colfax Avenue, between Iris and Ames Street. The new ramps will be wider, sloped for easier access.

In addition, the project will modify the location of 24 existing pedestrian push buttons at five intersections and update the crosswalk striping at two intersections to improve safety and meet the current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Chato’s Concrete of Denver, CO was awarded this $1.8 million project by CDOT.


Traffic Impacts

  • Single lane closures are anticipated and will happen from the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when necessary.
  • Traffic control flaggers will be present to guide motorists around the closures. Business access will be maintained.

Project Schedule

  • The project will begin in February 2020 and is planned for completion in August 2020. Work will start on the south side of Colfax Avenue in the eastbound lanes. Normal working hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. No work is planned on nights, weekends or during state holidays, unless needed.
