On Monday, May 22, 2017, crews started roadway construction on US 36 between Strasburg and Byers, in Adams and Arapahoe counties.

In addition to paving US 36 west of Strasburg (mile points 94.7 to 100.9), work includes:

  • guardrail removal and re-installation;
  • concrete work;
  • slab repair;
  • bridge rehabilitation;
  • curb ramp installation/upgrades; and
  • roadway signing and striping.

Travel Impacts

  • Working hours: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with night and weekend work as necessary
  • Single lane closures on US 36
  • Flaggers present to guide one-way traffic through the closure
  • Beginning in July: Closures on several bridges within the project area
    • Work on CR 2 will require single lane closures.
    • On I-70, expect a detour to allow crews to remove and replace asphalt.
