In June 2017, CDOT completed this roadway reconstruction project on US 24 (Manitou Avenue) at the intersection of Garden of the Gods Place and Colorado Highway (CO) 24 East.

The project consisted of:

  • an asphalt overlay along Manitou Avenue;
  • drainage and guardrail work; and
  • upgrades of ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Project sites:

  • Site A started at mile post (MP) 0.0 of US 24E as it departs US 24 west of the City of Manitou Springs, and ends at MP 0.62 (roundabout intersection with Serpentine Drive).

  • All work at Site A (Manitou Avenue between Serpentine Drive to US 24 access ramp at the Rainbow Falls Bridge) is complete.

  • Site B started at MP 1.72 (just west of Manitou Springs City Hall) and ends at MP 2.67 (just east of the US 24 interchange), and includes adjacent Garden of the Gods Place. New pavement and 30 ADA ramps have been updated within Site B. Repairs to the concrete deck of the bridge structure located on Garden of the Gods Place are complete. Drainage improvements are now complete at the intersection of Manitou Avenue and Garden of the Gods Place.

  • The project team completed the drainage work at Garden of the Gods Place and Manitou Avenue, and all American with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp work.
