Project Facts
From September 2016 to June 2017, CDOT reconstructed US 24/Manitou Avenue at the intersection of Garden of the Gods Place and CO 24 East. This project, now complete, consisted of:
- an asphalt overlay on Manitou Avenue;
- drainage work;
- guardrail work; and
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp work.
The overlay was split between two sites:
Site A: Work is complete. The site is now open.
- Mile point 0.0 of US 24E as it departs US 24 west of the City of Manitou Springs and ends at mile point 0.62 (roundabout intersection with Serpentine Drive)
- This portion has a new surface, new guardrail, and new paint in addition to the new bridge.
Site B (work is complete):
- Mile point 1.72 (just west of Manitou Springs City Hall) and ends at mile post 2.67 (just east of the US 24 interchange) and includes adjacent Garden of the Gods Place
- Thirty ADA ramps updated within Site B
- Repairs made to the concrete deck of the bridge structure on Garden of the Gods Place have been completed.
- Drainage improvements installed at the intersection of Manitou Avenue and Garden of the Gods Place
- Milling and paving work on Manitou Avenue
