US 160 Wolf Creek Pass Fiber Optic Installation

Project Overview

From Monday, April 17, 2017, to Monday, Sept. 18, crews installed fiber option cable on US Highway (US) 160 Wolf Creek Pass in Southwest Colorado. The project included installing conduit, fiber optic cable and manholes along a 16-mile stretch of the US 160 mountain corridor—from Wolf Creek Pass east tunnel to the east side of South Fork.

Work was also completed on electrical signs in Monte Vista, Alamosa and La Veta Pass.

  • The technology will optimize digital controls within the Wolf Creek Tunnel.
  • This work continues CDOT's expansion of high-speed telecommunications to all areas of the state.
