From September to November 2016, crews built a large mammal underpass east of Durango, between mile posts 97 and 98—about five miles east of the CO 172 junction.

Crews on this project:

  • widened shoulders.
  • installed wildlife fencing on both sides of the highway.
  • provided safer wildlife migration and reduce vehicle-wildlife collisions.
